Though there has been a lot of fundriasing events for Haiti, there is much more to be done to alleviate the suffering - please keep praying and giving in support of local appeals.
For this event, Joe Loughlin (The Gathering Drum) and Simon Edwards (Psalm Drummers) will facilitate an open drum circle where people of all ages and ability can come together and have great fun with hand drums and percussion!
To raise funds, there will be a minimum donation of £8 per person to attend. If you have been to one of our drum circles, you’ll know you are getting great value for your donation!

Psalm Drummers - Stepping Beyond

Stepping Beyond: 24-hours of worship 5th-6th March 2010
Southampton Central Hall, SO14 1NF - in partnership with Pioneer
Musicians, artists, drummers and dancers are gathering to facilitate worship through from 7pm Friday evening to 6pm Saturday evening. They include Martin Smith, Tim & Ann O’Hare, Godfrey Birtill, Movement in Worship and a volunteer team of 20 Psalm Drummers.

Mike Dolbear - Young Drummer of the Year competition

The Mike Dolbear 8th UK National Young Drummer of the Year Competition is open for entries. This year we will be returning to the Royal Spa Centre in Leamington Spa for the finals.
Joint sponsorship for this years competition is with music retailer Professional Music Technology (PMT) andMapex, Paiste and Vic Firth, and is also supported by Drummer and Rhythm magazines.
The competition is now firmly placed on the UK drumming calendar, with year-on-year attendance increases at the finals. The standard of the entries every year never ceases to amaze us and is a testament to the work and dedication these young musicians put into their instrument. Come along to the finals on January 24th to see for yourself!
The lucky winner this year will not only have the honor of opening Drumfest next year, sharing the stage with some of the best drummers in the world, but they will go on to represent the UK in Frankfurt in the Mapex Drummer of Tomorrow grand finals!
The closing date for entries is November 2nd 2009.

Psalm Drummers Djembé Day - 5th Sept

Would you like to improve your djembé and hand drumming skills? Would you like to understand how a djembé is played in the traditional West African style? Would you like to learn how to play your djembé in worship? Then this day is for you!
Psalm Drummer’s Core Team members Mike Simpson and Matt Hains, who are both highly skilled djembéfolas will be leading this fully hands-on exciting day which will culminate with punting to the pub - an Oxford tradition!
Mike studied djembé at Guildhall School of Music & Drama and Matt studied djembé with Master Drummer Mamady Keita in Senegal. Both are facilitators with Inspire-works, one of the UK’s leading world music workshop companies. Their naturally relaxed and humour filled teaching manner always brings out the best playing ability of all workshop participants and will create a fun, yet informative atmosphere to improve your djembé skills.

10am-5pm (tea, coffee provided - please bring your own packed lunch)
Cost: £10 per person.
