For this event, Joe Loughlin (The Gathering Drum) and Simon Edwards (Psalm Drummers) will facilitate an open drum circle where people of all ages and ability can come together and have great fun with hand drums and percussion!
To raise funds, there will be a minimum donation of £8 per person to attend. If you have been to one of our drum circles, you’ll know you are getting great value for your donation!

Pray/play for peace in Sudan!
January 9, 2010 by Edit Team 1 · Leave a Comment
Sudan is at a critical moment in its history (from the Sudan365 website).
More info at http://www.sudan365.org/
On 9 January 2010, Sudanese communities and activists around the world are joining together to call on international leaders to take urgent diplomatic action to prevent an escalation of conflict in Sudan that could lead to massive human rights violations
9 January 2010 also marks the fifth anniversary of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, which signaled the end of the civil war. Millions were killed. Millions were displaced. Millions suffered dire human rights abuses.
And one year on from 9 January 2010 – in 365 days – a referendum is due to be held to determine the future of Sudan. But there is a real danger that war will return. Violence is on the increase in Southern Sudan and in Darfur millions continue to suffer daily in camps.
Join Sudan365: join thousands of people across the world by drumming along to a global beat for peace in Sudan.
The beat will start in Sudan and will be echoed by people from all over the world: from Nairobi to New York, London to Tokyo. Famous drummers from Radiohead, The Police, Pink Floyd, Snow Patrol and the legendary musicians Mohammed Munir, Yehia Khalil and Mustaffa Tettey Addy are all joining the beat.
- Join a beat for peace and call on governments worldwide to take action to prevent war in Sudan.
- Join a beat for peace and call on governments worldwide and Sudanese leaders to protect the people of Sudan.
- Join a beat for peace and call on governments worldwide to protect human rights and give peace a chance in Sudan.
- Psalm Drummers join the beat with prayer for peace.
Join the beat for peace
Whether a demonstration, a cultural event or a photo exhibition; whether on djembes, dustbin lids, pots or pans or percussive instruments: everyone will be drumming along to a Global Drumbeat for Peace. Organise your event, and let us know what happened.
New structure

Last year Terl Bryant (Psalm Drummer’s founder) announced that he was to step down from acting as Director of the Psalm Drummers ministry. Over the past 15 years he has established an amazing and unique work gathering Christian drummers and percussionists from around the world with vision to serve the church and the drumming community.
Through the development of the network and vision, Terl has laid out a framework for us that has been taken up in many different ways around the world both by individuals and communities. Most notably in the UK, there are 11 official regional groups who regularly meet to play, pray and worship together using drums, and there are many others who have been mentored and envisioned and who now take part as volunteers in the numerous events Psalm Drummers are involved with throughout the year.
The work of Psalm Drummers is respected by many from the established Catholic and Protestant streams and alongside many other believing groups they have seen Psalm Drummers playing an active role in calling people to worship in the UK and across the world. We believe there is much more to come in the new season that lies ahead.
To this end Terl Bryant has been working with core team leaders to begin to shape the future. It has been agreed that we shall establish a new ‘not-for-profit’ organisation with three Trustees to oversee the organisational aspects of the ministry. Terl has asked Mark Jones (Southampton), Simon Edwards (Belfast) and Michelle Tennens (Colchester) to act as trustees and to oversee the work. The organisation will be called The Psalm Drummers Association (PDA) and it will be run within the guidelines of the UK Charities Commission. Terl Bryant will still be involved in an advisory and pastoral capacity and a reformed Council of Reference will serve to advise on aspects of vision, direction, mission and ministry and the volunteer core team will continue to work together with the PDA to serve Psalm Drummers, the vision and to help make all the elements of the ministry happen.
Mark, Simon and Michelle will be in touch soon with more news and to get better acquainted with you on all things Psalm Drummer-ish. We will also be updating are communications, database, web format etc soon. So please keep visiting us here and on Facebook.
Dan Abbott (Colchester) is our first point of email contact and can be reached at dan.abbott@psalmdrummers.org. We look forward to sharing with you in all the adventures of 2010 together.
